Legal Services

What types of legal services does Adewunmi Law Firm provide?

Adewunmi Law Firm focuses on three primary practice areas: Family Law, Commercial Litigation, and Business Counsel. This combination allows Alex to serve clients across the full spectrum of their legal needs, whether they are navigating a divorce, defending against a business lawsuit, or launching a new venture.

What family law matters does the firm handle?

The firm handles the full range of Texas family law matters, including divorce (contested and uncontested), child custody and possession schedules, child support and spousal maintenance, property division (including complex estates and business interests), enforcement actions, modification of prior orders, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, grandparents' rights, family violence protective orders, and appeals of family court decisions.

Alex also has specialized experience with Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs), the court orders required to divide retirement accounts and pensions in divorce.

What is a QDRO, and why does it matter in divorce?

A Qualified Domestic Relations Order, or QDRO, is a legal order that divides retirement plan benefits between divorcing spouses. Without a properly drafted QDRO, a spouse entitled to a portion of the other's 401(k), pension, or similar retirement account may never receive those funds, regardless of what the divorce decree says. QDROs require precise drafting and must be approved by both the court and the retirement plan administrator. Errors can result in delayed payments, tax penalties, or outright rejection of the order. Alex has developed specific expertise in this area and regularly assists clients and other attorneys with QDRO preparation and implementation.

What types of commercial litigation does the firm handle?

The firm represents businesses and individuals in a wide range of civil disputes, including breach of contract, fraud, tortious interference with business relationships, breach of fiduciary duty, partnership and shareholder disputes, and real estate litigation.

What business counsel services does the firm offer?

For entrepreneurs and small business owners, the firm provides guidance on entity formation (LLCs, corporations, partnerships), operating agreements and bylaws, employment and independent contractor agreements, commercial contracts, and general business planning. The goal is to help clients build solid legal foundations before problems arise, rather than scrambling to fix issues after the fact.

Working with the Firm

What geographic areas does Adewunmi Law Firm serve?

The firm is based in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and represents clients throughout North Texas. Alex is licensed to practice in all Texas state courts and regularly handles matters in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, and surrounding counties. For commercial litigation and family law matters, the firm can represent clients in any Texas county.

How does the initial consultation process work?

Prospective clients can contact the firm by phone or through the website to schedule an initial consultation. During this meeting, Alex will discuss the specifics of your situation, explain your legal options, and provide a candid assessment of your case. If there is a good fit, the firm will provide a written engagement letter outlining the scope of representation, fee structure, and other terms.

The firm believes in transparency from the start. You will know what to expect before you commit to representation.
